Samsung Electronics is widening access to its One UI 8 software, the first version of its Android 16-based interface, saying a public beta will open on 11 August in the United States, United Kingdom, India and South Korea. The test build will reach the Galaxy S24 lineup, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 first. A second wave in September will add the Galaxy S23 family, last year’s Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, the Galaxy Tab S10 and several mid-range handsets including the Galaxy A55, A54, A36 5G and A35 5G. Samsung plans to start issuing the stable One UI 8 update from September, beginning with the flagship Galaxy S25 series and expanding to other eligible phones and tablets. The company also confirmed that One UI 8 Watch will move beyond the new Galaxy Watch 8 range to older smartwatches later in the year. One UI 8 introduces multimodal on-device artificial-intelligence features that blend voice, touch, image and text input, as well as a revamped navigation system and additional health and fitness tools on wearables.
