Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has engaged in a series of high-level meetings with Somali officials aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing regional trade and security. On June 26, Erdogan received Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, Somalia's Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, in Istanbul. The discussions focused on deepening collaboration on ports and maritime security, key elements for regional trade and stability. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur was also in Istanbul to participate in the Global Transport Connectivity Forum, where strategies to boost global trade and communication through land, sea, and air were discussed. In addition, Vice President Ali Dahir Eid of Somalia met with Turkish Ambassador Alper Aktas to discuss infrastructure projects, including the Hobyo Port, roads, and airports, and to promote Turkish private sector investment, citing improved security conditions. On July 11, President Erdogan officially welcomed Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Ankara, where they held further talks at the Presidential Complex to reinforce cooperation between the two countries.
