Mduduzi Trevor Mnisi, accused of the premeditated murder of 14-year-old Likhona Fose, has been granted bail of R5,000 by the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court. Mnisi, a 39-year-old parolee, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court found insufficient evidence to keep him in custody. The bail application process for Mnisi has experienced several postponements, with hearings resuming multiple times since late June 2025. Meanwhile, in a separate case, Sibusiso Ncengwa, who pleaded guilty to the 2017 murder of former African National Congress Youth League Secretary-General Sindiso Magaqa, was sentenced by the Pietermaritzburg High Court. Ncengwa received an effective 25-year prison sentence for conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and murder. The sentencing was welcomed by Magaqa's family and former ANC Youth League deputy president Andile Lungisa. Ncengwa's sentence followed his admission of guilt and cooperation in naming the alleged mastermind behind the assassination.
