Mnisi, 39, has pleaded not guilty. Likhona Fose's mutilated body was discovered in a veld near her Durban Deep home the previous month. Separately, Gauteng police arrested a 31-year-old woman, Tiffany Nicole Meek, in connection with the murder of 11-year-old Jayden-Lee Meek, whose bruised body was found in May at a residential complex in Fleurhof, Johannesburg. Tiffany Meek, believed to be a close relative and the mother of the child, appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court charged with murder, defeating the ends of justice, obstruction of justice, and crimen injuria. Police indicated that more arrests in the Jayden-Lee Meek case are expected. Evidence including blood found on Jayden-Lee’s bed, school clothes, and books linked Tiffany Meek to the crime. The grandmother of Jayden-Lee Meek has publicly supported Tiffany, asserting that she was framed. Experts have highlighted concerns about child abuse in South Africa, with discussions ongoing about the mental state of parents or guardians involved in filicide cases and the adequacy of child protection measures.
