The broadcast comes after a protracted legal battle. Former finance minister Malusi Gigaba mounted an urgent court challenge to prevent his ex-wife’s tell-all appearance from reaching audiences. | @News24Arts https://t.co/ZMdy7fGY2M
Former South African finance minister Malusi Gigaba has been involved in a legal dispute to prevent the broadcast of a tell-all interview featuring his ex-wife, Nomachule "Norma" Mngoma, on Showmax's series "Untied." Gigaba sought a court interdict to block the airing of the interview, which includes allegations related to their failed marriage, infidelity, and pornography. MultiChoice, the parent company of Showmax, countered Gigaba's attempts by stating in court papers that the allegations are not new and have been in the public domain for years. Despite Gigaba's claims that some of the allegations are new and could damage his reputation, his urgent application to halt the broadcast was postponed to July and ultimately dismissed by the court. The interview is scheduled to air on July 15, 2025. Following the court ruling, Gigaba indicated he is exploring all available legal options against Goat Production and Showmax, the entities responsible for airing the interview. The case attracted significant media attention given Gigaba's political profile and the sensitive nature of the allegations.
