Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will travel to Kuala Lumpur on 10–11 July to join the Seventh Türkiye–ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partnership Trilateral Meeting, held on the margins of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. The session will be co-chaired by Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan and ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn. Fidan plans to reiterate Ankara’s support for multilateral solutions to regional and global crises, including the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, and to call for a two-state outcome for Palestine. He will outline Türkiye’s readiness to cooperate with Southeast Asian nations on disaster response, supply-chain resilience, transnational crime, poverty and food security under the country’s “Asia Anew” initiative. The minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with counterparts and to promote Türkiye’s 2024 bid for full ASEAN Dialogue Partnership status. Economic ties have deepened since Türkiye became a sectoral dialogue partner in 2017, with bilateral trade almost tripling to $15.7 billion in 2024.
