Italian rider Giulio Ciccone claimed the 2025 Clásica de San Sebastián on Saturday, breaking clear on the final climb to win the 211-kilometre one-day race through Spain’s Basque Country. Ciccone distanced a UAE Team Emirates chase group on the decisive ascent of Murgil before holding his advantage on the descent into the Boulevard Donostiarra finish. Mexico’s Isaac del Toro Romero crossed the line fifth, while UAE’s Jan Christensen led the pursuers after the team’s late move failed to close the gap. The victory adds a prestigious WorldTour classic to Ciccone’s palmarès and highlights his climbing form little more than a week after the Tour de France. The San Sebastián race, first held in 1981, is regarded as one of cycling’s key summer tests following the Tour.
