Salmonella Outbreak in Galicia Festival Infects 162, Hospitalizations Rise; Linked Egg Recall and Deli Meat Cases Reported

A salmonella outbreak linked to the Trasan Fest music festival in Galicia, Spain, has affected at least 162 people, with hospitalizations fluctuating between 22 and 53 according to various health reports from early July 2025. The Xunta de Galicia's Consellería de Sanidade has been investigating the source of the outbreak, which has also been reported in Madrid and Málaga. By mid-July, the outbreak expanded beyond the festival, with at least one death reported and 134 infections linked to a recall of over 20 million eggs. Additionally, health officials identified a related salmonella outbreak connected to deli meats and prepared sandwiches sold in grocery stores, resulting in new illnesses and hospitalizations.
