Team USA overpowered Germany 109-76 in Lausanne on 6 July to claim the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup, completing a perfect 7-0 run through the tournament after missing the podium in 2023. The Americans, guided by Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd, opened a nine-point halftime cushion and surged away with six players in double figures. Michigan forward Morez Johnson Jr. paced the championship game with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Arizona freshman Koa Peat added 12 points and nine boards, becoming the first U.S. player to collect four junior-national-team gold medals. Germany’s Christian Anderson scored 14 of his team-high points before intermission but received little help as the U.S. defense tightened. BYU-bound wing AJ Dybantsa was voted tournament MVP after averaging 14.3 points on 68 % shooting inside the arc. Louisville commit Mikel Brown Jr. joined the All-Star Five with 14.9 points, 6.1 assists and a tournament-best 20 three-pointers. The United States has now won eight of the last ten editions of the biennial event.
