Syrian journalist Abdullah Hassan, also known as Nour Golan, was arrested by security forces in Quneitra province, southern Syria, on July 1, 2025. The local media directorate stated that his detention was for undisclosed reasons unrelated to his journalistic work. Nour Golan had been reporting on ongoing Israeli Defense Forces incursions from the Golan Heights into Quneitra. He is known for his pro-revolution stance and previous support for Abu Mohammad al-Jolani and Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham. Later the same day, he was released. In a related development, Israeli forces conducted military operations in the Quneitra countryside, detaining two individuals, including a former detainee from Sednaya prison, and a child during raids in the village of Al-Dawayeh. These events occurred amid reports of forest fires spreading to the Al-Farnalq forests in the region. Local authorities in Latakia are working on plans to restore villages affected by wildfires and have urged the public to avoid careless fire ignition in agricultural lands.
