Samsung’s 2026 flagship smartphone range is expected to address long-standing battery complaints, according to industry leaks. The Galaxy S26 Edge is said to adopt new “SUS CAN” or silicon-carbon cell technology that would allow the phone to be slimmer than the 5.8 mm-thick S25 Edge while increasing capacity beyond the predecessor’s 3,900 mAh pack. Separately, the top-tier Galaxy S26 Ultra is reportedly set to keep its 5,000 mAh battery for a seventh consecutive generation but, for the first time since 2019, raise wired charging speeds above the current 45 W. Some reports point to a jump to about 65 W, which would make the device Samsung’s fastest-charging handset to date. The company has also reportedly locked in a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite chipset for the S26 series. The changes come after lacklustre demand for the S25 Edge, whose slim profile was offset by limited endurance, and amid growing competitive pressure from Chinese brands offering 6,000 mAh or larger batteries in similarly thin devices. Samsung is expected to unveil the S26 family next year.
