Austin Police SWAT in Night-Long Standoff With Barricaded Man

The Austin Police Department deployed its SWAT unit to the 13600 block of Alysheba Drive in Del Valle, Texas, on Wednesday evening after a man barricaded himself inside a residence. Officers were first called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. and, after unsuccessful attempts to persuade the individual to exit voluntarily, requested tactical support shortly before 8 p.m. Police have set up a perimeter and instructed residents to avoid the area. Media are being directed to stage at Del Valle High School, 5201 Ross Road, while negotiators continue to work toward a peaceful resolution. As of early Thursday, the standoff remained active and authorities had not reported any injuries or arrests.
