Authorities have recovered the body of Cleveland Whiteside, a 28-year-old visitor from Mississippi who drowned in Lake Lewisville over the weekend, according to statements from Texas Game Wardens and city officials. The initial 911 call came at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday after Whiteside disappeared beneath the water while swimming back to a vessel near Pier 121 Marina with a companion. Dive teams from the Lewisville Fire Department, aided by Texas Game Wardens and TowBoat U.S., searched the area until nightfall, then suspended operations for safety reasons. Search crews resumed work early Sunday and located Whiteside’s body just after noon. The remains were transferred to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for confirmation and autopsy. Investigators said no foul play is suspected and extended condolences to the victim’s family.
