Turkey's defense industry has achieved multiple milestones with successful live-fire tests involving the Bayraktar AKINCI unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) and various domestically developed munitions. On June 14, 2025, the Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV successfully completed a low-altitude cruise and autonomous target recognition firing test using the ÇAKIR cruise missile, developed by Roketsan. The missile hit a fixed surface target with precision, demonstrating autonomous target acquisition capabilities. Later, on June 28 and subsequent dates, the Bayraktar AKINCI fired the KEMANKEŞ 1, an AI-powered mini cruise missile developed by Baykar, which successfully struck airborne targets with pinpoint accuracy. This missile also completed tests against ground targets by early July 2025, further proving its versatility and precision. Additionally, the TCG İSTANBUL frigate, part of Turkey's MİLGEM Fifth Ship Procurement Project, conducted live-fire drills, hitting all targets with full accuracy. Most recently, on July 17, 2025, the Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV successfully executed a firing test with the GÖKÇE new generation guidance kit, developed in collaboration with TÜBİTAK SAGE, achieving a direct hit on the target. These developments underscore Turkey's advancements in indigenous military technology and autonomous weapon systems.
