On July 7, 2025, two separate fires occurred involving public transportation vehicles in Istanbul. The first incident took place in Sancaktepe, where a motor fire broke out on a moving İETT bus. The driver noticed the fire, pulled the bus to the side of the road, and evacuated the passengers safely. Firefighters arrived promptly and extinguished the blaze, preventing casualties. Later the same day, a metrobüs caught fire near the İncirli stop in the Bakırköy district while en route to Beylikdüzü. The motor section of the metrobüs ignited for reasons not yet determined, leading to a rapid spread of flames that engulfed the entire vehicle. Passengers were evacuated without injury, but the fire caused the metrobüs to become unusable. Firefighting teams controlled and eventually extinguished the fire amid occasional explosions. The incident led to the suspension of metrobüs services on the D-100 route in both directions. Police secured the area during firefighting operations. Both events highlight fire safety challenges in Istanbul's public transit system.
