Apple TV+ has formally revived its hit comedy “Ted Lasso” for a fourth season, reversing earlier indications that the show had ended with its 2023 finale. The streamer confirmed the renewal in March and plans to start production this month. Star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis said the new episodes will follow coach Ted Lasso as he takes charge of a women’s football team, signaling a fresh narrative direction. Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of her film “Smurfs” on 14 July, Emmy-winning actor Hannah Waddingham welcomed the decision with a characteristically vivid metaphor, saying the series “feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we’ve exhumed it.” Waddingham, who plays club owner Rebecca Welton, added that she had been eager to explore her character’s future and “can’t wait” to return to set. Sudeikis, Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt are all confirmed to return. The original three-season run earned 61 Emmy nominations and 13 wins, including back-to-back best comedy series trophies, making the forthcoming season one of Apple TV+’s highest-profile projects of 2025.
