Ubisoft appears to be partnering with Disney-owned network FX on a live-action television adaptation of its long-running ‘Far Cry’ video-game franchise. Details surfaced after Ubisoft briefly published, then deleted, an announcement on its corporate site; screenshots of the post were preserved online. According to the removed statement, the series is being co-created by Rob McElhenney—who recently began using the professional name Rob Mac—and Fargo and Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley. Hawley is expected to serve as showrunner, while McElhenney would star in the project. The show is described as an anthology drama, with each season set in a different location and featuring a new cast, mirroring the games’ standalone storytelling. The leak underscores Ubisoft’s broader push to extend its marquee properties beyond gaming. The company is already working with Hawley on FX’s ‘Alien: Earth’ and has signalled plans to develop film and television projects around its Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six and Far Cry brands. Neither Ubisoft nor FX has formally commented on the inadvertent disclosure.
