Netflix has officially greenlit a live-action television series based on Ubisoft’s long-running Assassin’s Creed videogame franchise, nearly five years after the companies first announced a production pact in 2020. The show will be created and run by Roberto Patino ("Westworld," "DMZ") and David Wiener ("Halo," "Brave New World"), who will also serve as executive producers alongside Ubisoft’s Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill, and producer Matt O’Toole. No casting or premiere date was disclosed. Described by the companies as a “high-octane thriller,” the series will explore the franchise’s signature secret war between rival factions seeking either to manipulate or safeguard humanity’s future, following characters across multiple historical eras. Since its 2007 debut, Assassin’s Creed has sold more than 230 million copies across 14 main installments, the most recent being 2025’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows. A 2016 feature film adaptation starring Michael Fassbender took in over $240 million worldwide. The forthcoming series is the first live-action project to emerge from the Netflix-Ubisoft agreement.
