Russian troops have captured the settlement of Tolstoy in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region, Russian state news agency TASS reported. The agency said assault units from the Vostok group expelled Ukrainian forces from the town, which lies on the western edge of the self-declared Donetsk People’s Republic. Separate battlefield reports indicated that Russian units also seized nearby Novosilka and entered the village of Mirne, while pressing forward on the Konstantinovka bulge. Military analysts tracking the front line said the latest gains leave roughly ten villages in that part of western Donetsk still under Ukrainian control, underscoring Moscow’s incremental advance in the area.
