Large explosions ripped through a Russian ammunition depot in Khartsyzsk, a city in the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine’s Donetsk region, late on 2 July after what local reports described as a Ukrainian missile and drone strike. The blasts set off a chain of secondary detonations that could be seen for kilometres. Video circulating on social media showed multiple fireballs and a column of smoke rising from the site. The footage has not yet been independently verified, and casualty numbers have not been reported. As of late Wednesday, neither Ukraine’s Armed Forces nor Russia’s Defence Ministry had issued public statements on the incident. Kyiv has routinely targeted ammunition stockpiles, fuel depots and command posts in territory held by Moscow to hinder Russian logistics as the war enters its third year.
