Ukraine has unveiled and begun serial production of its new long-range cruise missile, the Flamingo (FP-5), which is capable of striking targets up to 3,000 kilometers away. Manufactured by the Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, the missile carries a warhead weighing approximately 1,000 to 1,150 kilograms (around 2,200 pounds). The Flamingo is designed for deep strikes into Russian territory, including areas west of Omsk and even beyond the Ural Mountains. It weighs about six tons, travels at speeds of roughly 950 km/h (590 mph), and flies at an altitude of up to 5 kilometers. The missile has a circular error probable (CEP) of 14 meters, indicating high precision. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has described the Flamingo as the most successful Ukrainian missile development, with mass production expected to ramp up from one missile per day to seven per day by October 2025. The missile has already been tested in combat against Russian targets, marking a strategic shift in the geography of the ongoing conflict. The Flamingo resembles the FP-5 system previously shown by the UK-based Milanion Group and represents a major advancement in Ukraine’s domestic missile capabilities.
