Ukraine’s military said its special-operations units struck Russia’s Caspian Sea port of Olya overnight, heavily damaging and partly sinking the cargo vessel Port Olya-4. The ship was reportedly loaded with Shahed-type unmanned-aerial-vehicle components and other munitions sourced from Iran, which Kyiv claims Moscow uses in its drone campaign against Ukrainian cities. The Russian Defence Ministry has not acknowledged damage at Olya but said its forces hit Ukrainian targets along the south-Donetsk axis. Pro-Russian outlets reported separate Ukrainian drone strikes on a residential district of Lysychansk in the Luhansk People’s Republic, igniting fires in high-rise buildings without causing casualties, according to initial accounts. The exchange followed a large-scale Russian barrage that included two ballistic missiles and 97 drones directed at 13 Ukrainian regions early Friday, the Ukrainian Air Force said. Air-defence units shot down 63 of the drones, it added. The uptick in strikes comes hours before U.S. President Donald Trump is to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, for talks the White House hopes will lead to a cease-fire in the 30-month-old war.
