Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Kyiv and its Western partners expect to finalise and put in writing a package of security guarantees for Ukraine within the next week to 10 days. The announcement followed his meetings in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders, where the parties discussed long-term measures aimed at deterring further Russian aggression. Zelenskiy told reporters that the United States would be among the states coordinating and signing the pledges, describing the forthcoming document as a “major step forward.” He added that the guarantees are intended to underpin any eventual peace settlement and would likely include military assistance and commitments to rapid support in the event of renewed hostilities. The president said a separate proposal under discussion with Washington involves a defence package worth about $90 billion, covering combat aircraft and air-defence systems as well as future purchases of Ukrainian-made drones. He reiterated Kyiv’s readiness to engage in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin “in any format,” noting that territorial questions must be resolved directly between the two countries.
