Zelensky Rejects Territory Swap Proposal, Cites Constitution, Insists Kyiv Be Part of Talks Ahead of Trump-Putin Alaska Summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has firmly rejected any proposal to cede Ukrainian territory to Russia as part of a peace deal. This stance comes in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's suggestion that a peace agreement could involve "some swapping of territories" between Ukraine and Russia. Zelensky emphasized that the question of Ukraine's territorial integrity is already addressed in the country's constitution, stating that "Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier." He also insisted that Kyiv must be included in any negotiations regarding the conflict. The rejection was made public ahead of a planned summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, aimed at seeking an end to the ongoing war. European leaders have reiterated their support for Ukraine's sovereignty amid these developments.
