A semitrailer rolled over on Interstate 80 near mile markers 110-111 shortly after 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, killing the driver and forcing the closure of eastbound lanes, the Utah Highway Patrol said. A passenger in the cab was taken to hospital by ambulance; no other vehicles were involved. The truck left the westbound carriageway for an unknown reason, crossed into the centre median and came to rest on its passenger side against the cable barrier, according to a Department of Public Safety statement. Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the crash. Eastbound I-80 remained shut for roughly two hours, while westbound traffic was diverted onto the shoulder, causing heavy delays between Tooele and Salt Lake City. The Utah Department of Transportation urged motorists to use State Route 201 as an alternative route. One eastbound lane had reopened by late morning.
