A truck driver was killed when two semitrailers collided on eastbound Interstate 70 near Crescent Junction in Grand County, Utah, at about 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. Investigators said a 2024 Freightliner exited at a scenic overlook, then cut across the restricted gore area to re-enter the highway, where it was struck from behind by a 2015 Freightliner. The impact destroyed the blueberry-laden trailer of the 2024 truck and severely damaged the front of the 2015 vehicle, whose driver died at the scene. The driver and co-driver of the 2024 truck were unhurt. Debris blocked both eastbound lanes overnight, with traffic diverted through a nearby rest area until the road reopened Monday morning. The Grand County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the crash for possible criminal charges.
