U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson used a light-hearted appearance on the New York Post’s “Pod Force One” to rule out any immediate presidential ambitions, saying he has “never aspired” to the White House and is focused on navigating a razor-thin Republican majority in the House. During the interview released Wednesday, the Louisiana Republican offered a playful impersonation of former President Donald Trump while recounting Oval Office discussions over naming the party’s flagship legislative package, which Trump dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Johnson also described his relationship with former Speaker Nancy Pelosi as “very kind,” stressing that political disagreements should not become personal. Johnson said the speakership often requires him to act as “as much a mental-health counselor as a legislator,” given the tight one-vote margin that has defined much of the current Congress. He praised Trump as “dialed in” on policy matters but reiterated that, for now, he intends to remain in the House leadership rather than seek higher office.
