Four of the nation’s most accurate 2024 election pollsters have formed an independent group to produce “the very best” data and challenge the bias in competing surveys, many run by the media and colleges. https://t.co/pTatkzzfP3
Four firms that posted some of the most accurate forecasts of the 2024 U.S. elections—Big Data Poll, Trafalgar Group, Insider Polling and Rasmussen Reports—have created the National Association of Independent Pollsters. The organisation, formed on 4 July, says it will publish joint surveys and methodological disclosures aimed at countering what it describes as bias in media- and university-sponsored polling. Membership will be by invitation and limited to pollsters with a track record of low error rates, according to a founding statement. Richard Baris of Big Data Poll will serve as chairman, while Trafalgar’s Robert Cahaly is acting as spokesman. Cahaly said the alliance intends to "reflect the electorate" rather than "affect the electorate," adding that additional independent pollsters have already applied to join. The new group positions itself as an alternative to the American Association for Public Opinion Research, arguing that accuracy rather than industry standards should be the sole benchmark. The move follows criticism of pre-election polls from several mainstream outlets that showed former Vice President Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump, results the independent firms say were not borne out at the ballot box.
