The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability has subpoenaed the estate of Jeffrey Epstein, demanding all unredacted documents, video footage and other communications in its possession. The subpoena, signed by Chairman James Comer, requires the estate to comply by 8 September 2025. Comer said the materials are essential to the committee’s examination of the federal government’s handling of investigations into Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, the circumstances of Epstein’s 2019 jail death and broader efforts to combat sex-trafficking. The panel is also reviewing potential ethics violations involving public officials linked to the case. In a related step, former U.S. Attorney and Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta—who approved Epstein’s 2007 non-prosecution agreement—has agreed to appear for a transcribed interview on 19 September. Former Attorneys General Alberto Gonzales, Eric Holder and Jeff Sessions will submit sworn declarations stating they have no relevant information, replacing previously planned depositions.
