An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening after colliding with a passenger vehicle at the intersection of 11400 South and 1300 West in South Jordan, Utah, authorities said. South Jordan Police Officer Shaun Becker told reporters that two to three motorcycles were heading eastbound when a vehicle turned left onto Temple Drive and struck one of the riders. The victim was transported to Intermountain Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A second motorcyclist laid down his bike to avoid the crash and is in stable condition, while the driver of the vehicle was uninjured and is cooperating with investigators. Police said speed may have contributed to the collision but have not yet determined fault. The South Valley Crash Team, which includes officers from South Jordan, Riverton and Herriman, is leading the investigation. All lanes of State Route 175 near the crash site remain closed overnight, with officials aiming to reopen the road before Thursday’s morning commute.
