This advisory comes amid escalating tensions between the administrations of U.S. President Donald Trump and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The U.S. Embassy in Venezuela and the U.S. External Office for Venezuela have both reiterated this warning, emphasizing the severity of the security situation. Following the U.S. advisory, Paraguay has also recommended that its citizens avoid traveling to Venezuela citing security concerns. Separately, the Chinese Embassy in the United States has cautioned Chinese students to exercise care when entering the U.S. through Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport as the academic year begins.
