2K Games and developer Hangar 13 have released “Mafia: The Old Country,” a $50 prequel to the long-running gangster franchise, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The third-person action title, set in early-1900s Sicily and lasting around 12–14 hours, also debuts day-and-date on Nvidia’s GeForce NOW cloud service. At launch the game offers Quality and Performance modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X, with Performance mode averaging roughly 60 frames per second. A PS5 Pro-enhanced version adds variable-refresh-rate and 120 Hz support and uses higher dynamic resolutions in both graphics modes. Hangar 13 has published recommended PC specifications and confirmed that the console versions are locked to single-player, story-driven play. Early reviews are mixed to positive. VGC awarded four stars, praising the meticulously rendered Sicilian countryside and the return to a linear structure, while noting that the map feels under-used. IGN called the game “a potent and immersive time machine,” but Game Informer and GameSpot faulted repetitive stealth segments and knife-fight boss encounters. The title holds a 75 average on Metacritic, placing it near the upper end of the series’ historical range.
