Marvel Rivals, the hero shooter game developed by NetEase, is set to launch its third season titled "The Abyss Awakens" on July 11, 2025. Season 3 introduces several new features and characters, most notably Jean Grey and the Phoenix as a new playable hero. Blade will also join the roster, with his release scheduled for the 3.5 update in August. The season will feature new Phoenix Force-themed skins for characters including Magik, Wolverine, Namor, Emma Frost, and Blade. Additionally, Storm, Jeff The Land Shark, and Spider-Man will receive new Symbiote skins, with Spider-Man also getting a Bully Maguire emote. A new team-up ability called "Primal Flame" involving Jean Grey and Wolverine will be available. The season will also introduce the symbiote king Knull as a new villain, adding a fresh antagonist to the game. Players will gain more customization options, including the ability to combine costume elements, customize Ultimate VFX, and unlock unique lobby backgrounds. The Marvel Rivals PlayStation Cup is returning for season 2.5 with bimonthly tournaments offering triple rewards. The update aims to refresh the game experience with shorter seasons and new content to engage players.
