Indie studio Team Cherry has scheduled a “special announcement” for Hollow Knight: Silksong to premiere on YouTube on 21 Aug. at 7:30 a.m. Pacific Time (10:30 a.m. Eastern, 3:30 p.m. U.K.). The video was listed on the platform Tuesday, ending months of silence around the long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s critically acclaimed Hollow Knight. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier said the sequel will not receive a release-date reveal during today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation and that he will publish a report on Thursday explaining why development has stretched to roughly seven years. Silksong was first announced in 2019 and has since missed multiple industry showcases, becoming a touchstone for delayed indie projects. Team Cherry has confirmed versions for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac and Linux, but it has yet to provide a launch window. Thursday’s presentation is expected to offer the most substantial update on the project since its original reveal.
