The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner has concluded that hiking influencer Hannah Moody died from environmental heat exposure. The 31-year-old’s death was ruled accidental in a report released 27 June, roughly five weeks after her body was discovered in Scottsdale, Arizona. Moody was found on 22 May about 600 yards off the parking lot of the Gateway Trailhead in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, a day after she set out alone toward Tom’s Thumb. Local police said there were no signs of foul play. AccuWeather data show temperatures in the area reached about 102°F at the time of her hike. Friends reported Moody missing when she failed to appear for a planned lunch. The former restaurant worker and avid outdoors enthusiast had recently moved back to Arizona and shared hiking content with an online following of nearly 50,000.
