CR Vasco da Gama has agreed a five-year contract extension with goalkeeper Léo Jardim, keeping the 30-year-old at São Januário until the end of the 2030 season. The new deal replaces an agreement that would have expired in December and removes a clause that extended the term only if he appeared in at least half of the club’s 2025 fixtures. Jardim joined Vasco from French side Lille in January 2023 and has since become a cornerstone of the team, starting 141 matches in all competitions and earning a first-time call-up to Brazil’s national squad. Club executives, including president Pedrinho and football director Admar Lopes, concluded the negotiations on Thursday after months of talks that attracted interest in the player from domestic and overseas clubs. Securing Jardim’s long-term future addresses a priority for the Rio de Janeiro side as it looks to stabilise its core roster ahead of forthcoming league and cup campaigns.
