Children’s series “Bluey” was the most-streamed programme in the United States during the first half of 2025, amassing 25.1 billion viewing minutes between 29 December and 28 June, according to Nielsen. The Australian show out-performed heavyweights such as “Squid Game,” which logged 15 billion minutes, underscoring the enduring strength of kids’ catalogues on major platforms such as Disney+. The surge in global demand for “Bluey,” alongside solid subscriber growth at BritBox International, helped BBC Studios— the commercial arm of the UK public broadcaster—post record revenue of £2.2 billion ($2.96 billion) for the 2024/25 fiscal year, up from £1.9 billion a year earlier. EBITDA rose to £228 million from £199 million, marking a fourth consecutive year of profits above £200 million. Parent organisation BBC Group also reported that licence-fee income reached an all-time high of £3.84 billion after the annual fee was lifted to £174.50. The broadcaster said the improved commercial and public-funding performance leaves it better placed to invest in original content while pursuing £700 million of annual cost savings by 2027/28.
