Netflix has begun production on a six-part limited series based on Jane Austen’s 1813 novel “Pride and Prejudice” and released a first-look image on 29 July. The photo shows Olivia Colman’s Mrs. Bennet with her five daughters, led by Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet, in period costume on a rural set in the United Kingdom. The streaming service confirmed the principal cast, with Jack Lowden playing Mr. Darcy and Rufus Sewell portraying Mr. Bennet. Supporting roles include Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Emerging actors Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery complete the Bennet sisters as Mary and Kitty. Author and screenwriter Dolly Alderton has written all six episodes, and Euros Lyn, known for work on “Sherlock” and “Doctor Who,” is directing. While Netflix has not set a premiere date, the series is expected to arrive in late 2025 or early 2026.
