Ukraine and the United Kingdom have agreed to establish a three-year programme to co-produce military drones, the first such defence-industrial collaboration between the two countries. The accord was reached during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Downing Street and announced jointly with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to statements from both governments. Under the arrangement, Britain will finance the purchase of a full range of Ukrainian-designed drones that will be manufactured in the United Kingdom. Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov said the project aims to scale advanced technologies, expand production capacity and deepen integration between the two defence industries. Officials did not disclose the value of the programme, but described it as a “mega-project” intended to accelerate delivery of long-range unmanned systems to Ukraine’s frontline while building longer-term manufacturing capabilities in both countries.
