Peel Regional Police have placed Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and his family under protective security after receiving what investigators describe as a credible death threat made in late June. Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich said the threat originated within Canada and is being actively investigated; no suspects have been named. Brown, speaking alongside police officials on Tuesday, said he would not scale back his advocacy for tougher action on organized crime, including tow-truck–related violence. “This is not the first time I’ve received a death threat and I’m sure it won’t be the last,” he told reporters, adding that the additional police presence has improved his family’s sense of safety. Milinovich said the security measures will remain in place until the investigation determines the source of the threat.
