Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Program running from July 28 to August 10, 2025. This playtest is a repeat of a similar test conducted in October 2024 and is open exclusively to subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service. The program will accommodate up to 40,000 participants, which is four times the capacity of the previous playtest. Applications for the playtest opened on July 21, 2025, at 8 AM PT and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Users who participated in the October 2024 playtest do not need to reapply but must update or download the relevant app by July 24. The playtest features an unnamed MMO-style game that has been described by participants as a blend of Minecraft, Roblox, and No Man's Sky, including a minigame reminiscent of Squid Games. Alongside the playtest, Nintendo released a system firmware update version 20.3.0 aimed at improving general system stability and user experience.
Is anybody else playing Nintendo's not so secret new MMO? (NSO Playtest). It's so weird yet fun. It's like Minecraft meets Roblox meets No Man's Sky. It even has a minigame like Squid Games where there's a path of glass panels but only one is solid and it was so fun seeing https://t.co/ClWwLSsY1f
