Ontario Provincial Police said two people were killed and two others injured in separate crashes on Toronto’s Highway 401 that occurred within 13 minutes and roughly 10 kilometres of each other early Sunday. The first collision was reported at 3:37 a.m. on the eastbound ramp from Highway 401 to Highway 410. Investigators said a single vehicle rolled over, killing its 23-year-old female driver. A 25-year-old woman who was travelling with her was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At 3:50 a.m., officers responded to a second crash on the eastbound 401 near Dixon Road involving two vehicles with lone occupants. A 29-year-old male driver was ejected from his car and died en route to hospital, while the 29-year-old man driving the other vehicle sustained minor injuries. Both crash sites were closed for several hours as the OPP’s collision-reconstruction unit examined the scenes. Police have not released details on contributing factors and are asking anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.
