Musician and fashion entrepreneur Kanye West delivered an expletive-laden critique of pro-Palestinian activists during an appearance on 15 July. In remarks circulated on social media, West said many people expressing solidarity with Palestinians are “programmed” by the media, claiming they "don’t know about Palestine" and "don’t give a [expletive]" about the conflict, but post about it online because it is fashionable. West further equated the activists with Americans who opposed former President Donald Trump, repeating that “anybody talking about the Palestine war who’s never been there” falls into the same category. The comments add to a history of provocative statements by the artist, who was widely criticized in 2022 for antisemitic remarks that led major brands to cut business ties.
