Security-camera footage released on 15 July appears to show New York rapper Troy Ave drawing a handgun and firing at an armed robber who accosted show promoter and celebrity chef Geoff “Chef” Cole outside Cole’s San Diego home. The video, shot in mid-June, depicts the suspect running toward Cole moments after the pair stepped out of a Bentley; Troy Ave then pulls his weapon and discharges at least two rounds, forcing the assailant to flee down an alley. Neither Troy Ave nor Cole was injured, and it is unclear whether the suspect was hit. TMZ, which first published the clip, said the two men had been returning from a celebration following Cole’s “Chef Fest” culinary event. San Diego police have not commented on the incident, and representatives for the rapper and promoter have yet to disclose whether a report was filed or if an arrest has been made.
