Authorities have arrested Wilson Verdugo, the owner of the establishment 'La Vaquita Sabrosa,' as the alleged mastermind behind the assassination of the 'Rey de Meiggs.' Verdugo reportedly attempted to cover his involvement by attending the victim's wake and settling a debt owed to him. Francisco Kaminski, a close associate of Verdugo, has been summoned and testified before the prosecution regarding the contract killing. Kaminski revealed details about informal loans he took to pay off his debt. Following the arrest, Verdugo was placed under preventive detention. The case has also involved judicial scrutiny, with a judge suspended for the release of a hitman connected to the case, who attributed the release to Gendarmería. Additionally, the Supreme Court unanimously rejected a request to remove regional prosecutor Patricio Cooper, who has been accused of political bias and leaks related to the investigation.
