Apple's iPhone sales in China reached the top spot in May 2025, according to Counterpoint Research, marking the company's strongest two-month performance since the pandemic with a 15% year-on-year global sales increase in April and May. However, in the second quarter of 2025, Apple's iPhone sales in China grew by 8% year-on-year, the first quarterly growth in two years, but this was amid an overall 4% decline in China's smartphone market shipments to 69 million units, as reported by IDC. Despite Apple's growth, Huawei reclaimed the top position in China's smartphone market in Q2 2025 with an 18.1% market share and a 17.6% year-on-year sales increase, followed by Vivo, Oppo, and Xiaomi, while Apple ranked fifth with a 13.9% share. Apple's sales in China declined 1.6% year-over-year in Q2 according to Counterpoint, though later reports indicated a return to growth in the market for Apple. The rebound in Apple's China sales contributed to a surge in its revenues and helped the company beat earnings estimates, as noted in recent financial reports.
