On June 17, 2025, Chongqing, a municipality in southwest China, set a new Guinness World Record with a spectacular drone light show featuring 11,787 drones. The event, held in the Nanan District, marked the 28th anniversary of Chongqing becoming a municipality directly under the Central Government. The drones performed a dual-formation flight, creating the largest aerial image ever formed by multirotors and drones. The show included iconic elements representing Chongqing, such as the "Mountain City" and "Camellia Blooming," and featured artistic displays inspired by Sichuan Opera, including face-changing performances and graceful tea-pouring scenes. The drone light show illuminated the night sky, captivating onlookers with its precise choreography and vivid imagery. This achievement highlights China's advancements in drone technology and its use in cultural celebrations. Following this record-breaking event, Chongqing continued to host drone shows with thousands of drones forming various shapes, including a 1,000-drone display of a glowing cat interacting with a cicada, as well as other creative aerial patterns. These performances have become a notable part of Chongqing's cultural and technological showcase.
