The 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting took place in Tianjin, China, with key diplomatic engagements among member states. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the meeting. Jaishankar conveyed greetings from Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President Xi and discussed recent developments in bilateral ties. He emphasized the SCO's foundational goals of combating terrorism, separatism, and extremism, highlighting India's initiatives within the organization in areas such as startups, innovation, traditional medicine, and digital public infrastructure. Jaishankar also stressed the importance of deepening trade, investment, and exchanges among SCO members and reiterated concerns about regional stability, particularly regarding Afghanistan. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held meetings with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi, Tajikistan's Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu, and reaffirmed strong diplomatic ties with Iran, Kazakhstan, and other SCO members. The meetings underscored ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity, cooperation, and regional stability within the SCO framework.
