The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is set to hold its largest-ever summit from August 31 to September 1, 2025, in Tianjin, China. The summit will bring together leaders from over 20 countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa, as well as heads of 10 international organizations. The SCO currently comprises 10 member states, 2 observer states, and 14 dialogue partners, representing nearly half of the world's population, a quarter of the global landmass, and about a quarter of global GDP. In 2024, China's trade with other SCO member states reached approximately $512.4 billion, reflecting a 2.7% increase year-on-year. The organization aims to foster global dialogue and cooperation, with a focus on peace, security, development, and sustainable growth. Under the guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping's ecological civilization thought, SCO partners are collaborating on green energy projects, including Pakistan's Karot Hydropower Station, to promote regional prosperity. The summit is expected to chart the blueprint for the bloc's development over the next decade, with extensive media coverage planned.
