Authorities in Colombia have discovered a mass grave containing the bodies of eight social and religious leaders in Calamar, Guaviare. The Public Defender, Iris Marín, criticized the government's lack of response to repeated warnings about the humanitarian crisis in the region. The killings are believed to have been ordered by alias "Arbey," the leader of the Armando Ríos front of the FARC dissidents, with some sources also mentioning alias "Iván Mordisco" as involved. The Catholic Church and various religious groups have condemned the murders. In response, the Calamar municipal government has organized a march for life and peace in memory of the victims. Separately, the United Nations has warned of a severe humanitarian situation in Colombia's Cauca department due to armed conflicts. Additionally, a recent massacre in La Guajira resulted in the deaths of a UNP bodyguard and two others. Authorities are investigating another large massacre in Arauca, considered the biggest in Colombia in 2025 so far, with the victims being from that region.
